After an alien attack from orbit, only hundreds of humans survived. As they woke up, some noticed they had been modified in some way and gained strange abilities, others had not. Many failed to wake up right away and those that did were crazed, enraged and had only one thing in mind: feed. They are not dead, but there are no known cure and very few scientists left to research. Some of the survivors have gathered in small settlements to seek security in numbers, others are out scavenging in small groups. The threat out there isn't only the mindless killers, but also a band of raiders for whom the absence of law enforcement means they're allowed to prey on their own kind.
